What is Permaculture?

Permaculture means 'Permanent Agriculture'. It's a design system that replicates both natural ecosystems and indigenous land management wisdom. Developed by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the 1970's in Australia - with the term being officially coined (and shortly followed by their first book) in 1978 - it continues to be a revolutionary design philosophy.

Core Ethics

Earth care

How can we practice regenerative methods of relating to land? Forms that promote a circulatory system in which everything needed in the ecosystem is produced within that very ecosystem and also regulates itself. Permaculture begs the question, "How can we value biodiversity and mimic natural systems?".

People care

There are not any truly productive societies in which each person is only concerned with themselves. This principle entails that we always remain focused on meeting the basic needs of humanity and foster community.

Fair share

Consume only what you need and give all excess to others.
